Hi,
Here is another idea and I really think this should have been part of the Friends List Module.

A lot of our users are tired of the PM harassment. They want better control over their PMs.

Is there a way in a future update users can define how users would like to receive their PMs?

Example:
Accept All PMs
Accept PMs from members only
Accept PMs friends only
Confirm the PM (Accept or Decline)
Block all PMs.

Having options like this and to let users choose they wish the PMs should work should be up to them.... It's just annoying when users come on and start harassing a bunch of people because there is no tools to prevent this with the current version of 123 Flash Chat. And a lot of the harassing takes away the fun of CHAT, for those who keep complaining to the admins , mods to do SOMETHING, when there is like not much we can do....

They do have some functionality in options.  However they do not function as advertised. They need to be fixed.

For example:
With the current system if you have set up to FRIENDS ONLY!!! They need to accept or deny... Well that is kind of stupid.... because anyone not on friends list can STILL PM these users... They need to let each individual chatter to choose the options I mentioned above.

So if John Doe wants to receive no PMs he should be able to BLOCK ALL INCOMING PMs....

In reality, the features that are there just need to be fixed and tuned.

However a user should be able to turn off PMs to ALL Users, except from mods, admins and super admins.


Here is a run down how the current system works if left alone and wasn't fined tuned in programming:

1.)
- Accept private messages (unchecked)
- Accept private messages from members only (unchecked)
- Accept private messages from friends only (unchecked)
Result: User receives a PM still from another user - with having to accept or decline with the option to remember their choice.

2.)
- Accept private messages (checked)
- Accept private messages from members only (unchecked)
- Accept private messages from friends only (unchecked)
Result: User receives a PM without accept or declined notification.

3.)
- Accept private messages (unchecked)
- Accept private messages from members only (checked)
- Accept private messages from friends only (unchecked)
Result: User receives a PM once again without accept or declined notification.

4.)
- Accept private messages (unchecked)
- Accept private messages from members only (unchecked)
- Accept private messages from friends only (checked)
Result: User receives a PM still from another user (any user whether it's a: Guest, Member, etc!) - with having to accept or decline with the option to remember their choice.

So again as you can see it needs some fine tuning...

I don't think as many people play with the program itself, until someone really points out the obvious.  However as you can see my test with #1 users can still get PMs just by having to accept or decline even though it was TURNED OFF COMPLETELY... So these features may be there, but it's BROKEN. It needs some work....

I have thought maybe also adding as an option:

Block PMs if user isn't in the same room. The program allows multiple rooms. The multiple room feature is nice, but some users would prefer to block PMs if that user PMing them isn't in the same room.

So if John Doe is in : Room One and Room Two and Jane Doe is only in Room One but yet she sees John Doe in Room One, and doesn't realize he is in both rooms and is focused on Room Two, if John had Blocked PMs from users not in the same room checked, then he wouldn't receive a PM until that user goes to the room he is focused on.


This would also help with the prevention of unwanted spamming. Some users go to chats and SPAM, or to harass. I know our biggest thing is harassment. We get a lot of people who come to our site and want to only do naughty things on CAM but that isn't what our site is all about, and our USERS want to CONTROL who is allowed to PM them. It's just with the current system it doesn't work as advertised. So hopefully this will be fixed soon! As harassment is annoying, no one or any chatter should be harassed.


I hope this is clear if you need further information don't hesitate to comment. I just really hope this becomes priority and if it isn't on the TOP, I would recommend moving this to the TOP of fixes.
